How To Set Screen Time on Android & iOS Devices?

Individuals can use screen time management on Android devices and iOS devices to regulate the usage of their devices, increase productivity, and minimize the negative effects of being glued to screens.

  • On Android Devices

First, let's go through a procedure on how to limit screen time on Android devices effectively:

  • Start by opening the “Settings” application on your Android phone.
  • Now, scroll down to “Digital Wellbeing & Parental Controls” or “Digital Wellbeing” and click on it.
  • Next, tap either “Dashboard” or “Your apps” to observe the app usage.
  • Then, select the specific app for which you want to set a time limit and then choose ‘Set Timer.’ Pick the number of hours each day to spend with this particular app.

These four steps above would assist you in kick-starting your journey towards effective management of screen time on an Android device.

  • On iOS Devices

Let us now consider how to set up screen time on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Open your iOS device and go to the “Settings” app (looks like a gear icon).
  • Now in the settings app, scroll down to “Screen Time” (usually an hourglass icon) and tap on it.
  • Next, to set screen time limits for specific apps or categories, tap on “App Limits” or “Downtime” depending on what you prefer.
  • Then, in App Limits tap on the App category you want to set a time limit for, for example, Social Media or Games.
  • Then, tap “Add Limit” and set the time limit for that category.
  • Now, to set a general downtime for your device choose “Downtime” and select the start and end times you want your device to be in downtime.

By enabling these options, you can manage your screen time on your iOS device and find a healthy balance between your digital life and other activities.
